A vulnerability has been identified in Microsoft Windows Messenger, which could be exploited by remote attackers to gain knowledge of sensitive information. This issue is caused due to the "Messenger.UIAutomation.1" ActiveX control being marked safe, which could allow attackers to script this control and gain the privileges of the logged-on user on Windows Messenger, allowing them to capture the user's logon ID, remotely log on to the user's Messenger client as that user, change state, get contact information, and initiate audio and video chat sessions without the knowledge of the logged-on user.
