Two vulnerabilities have been identified in GNU M4, which could be exploited by attackers to bypass security restrictions or execute arbitrary code.
The first vulnerability is caused by a format string error in the "produce_frozen_state ()" [src/freeze.c] function when processing filenames supplied with "m4 -F", which could be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary code and compromise a vulnerable system.
The second issue is caused by errors in the "m4_maketemp()" and "m4_mkstemp()" [src/builtin.c] functions when handling output data, which could be exploited to cause operations to be done on the wrong file.
