A vulnerability has been identified in Apache Tomcat, which could be exploited by attackes to bypass security restrictions. This issue is caused by an error in the default catalina.policy in the JULI logging component that does not restrict certain permissions for web applications, which could allow attackers to modify logging configuration options and overwrite arbitrary files e.g. by changing the "level", "directory", and "prefix" attributes in the org.apache.juli.FileHandler handler.
