Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers, which could be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service.
The first issue is caused by a NULL-pointer dereference error in the Job Engine (bengine.exe) service when handling exceptions, which could be exploited by remote attackers to crash an affected service by sending a specially crafted packet to port 5633/TCP.
The second vulnerability is caused by two integer overflow errors within the Job Engine (bengine.exe) service when processing malformed packets sent to port 5633/TCP, which can be exploited by attackers to cause a vulnerable application to exhaust all available memory resources, creating a denial of service condition.
