Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in VideoLAN VLC Media Player, which could be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service or take complete control of an affected system. These issues are caused by format string errors in the Ogg/Vorbis, Ogg/Theora, CDDA (CD Digital Audio) and SAP (Service Announce Protocol) plugins when processing malformed files, which could be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into opening a malicious ".ogg" (Vorbis) or ".ogm" (Theora) files, or parsing specially crafted CDDB entries or SAP/SDP messages.
