A vulnerability has been identified in Dovecot, which could be exploited by malicious users to bypass security checks and gain knowledge of sensitive information. This issue is caused by an error in the "mbox_mailbox_open()" [lib-storage/index/mbox/mbox-storage.c] function that fails to properly validate mailbox names when the zlib plugin is enabled, which could be exploited by attackers to open other users' gzipped mbox files via a directory traversal attack.
