A vulnerability has been identified in gxine, which could be exploited by local attackers to cause a denial of service or obtain elevated privileges. This issue is due to buffer overflow errors in the "main()" [client.c], "void server_setup()" and "server_client_connect()" [server.c] functions when handling an overly long "HOME" environment variable, which could be exploited by malicious users to crash a vulnerable application or execute arbitrary commands.
