Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in Sun Solaris, which could be exploited by malicious users to obtain elevated privileges.
The first issue is due to an error in the default Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) configuration when associated with the "File System Management" profile, which could be exploited by a local user who has been assigned that profile to execute arbitrary commands with "root" privileges.
The second flaw is due to an error in the "format" command, which could be exploited by a local user who has been granted the "File System Management" RBAC profile (or any custom profile which would allow the user to run the format command with "root" privileges) to write to the device files associated with local disks with "root" privileges.
The third vulnerability is due to a buffer overflow error in the "format" command, which could be exploited by a local user who has been granted the "File System Management" RBAC profile (or any custom profile which would allow the user to run the format command with "root" privileges) to execute arbitrary commands with "root" privileges.
