Debian has released updated packages to address a vulnerability identified in mpg123. This flaw is due to a buffer overflow error in the "III_i_stereo()" [layer3.c] function that does not properly handle malformed MPEG 2.0 layer 3 files, which could be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary commands by convincing a user to open a malicious MPEG file via a vulnerable application.
