Two vulnerabilities have been identified in EMC Retrospect, which could be exploited by local attackers to obtain elevated privileges.
The first flaw is due to an error in the backup server that fails to drop privileges before launching the "File - Open dialog" box, which could be exploited by malicious users to launch applications and execute arbitrary commands with administrator privileges.
The second vulnerability is due to an error when the "Retrospect.exe" file is replaced with another application that has the same name, which could be exploited by malicious users to cause the launcher to run a malicious file with SYSTEM privileges.
