A vulnerability has been identified in Sun Solaris, which could be exploited by local attackers to obtain elevated privileges. This flaw is due to an error when a privileged application links to the "libpkcs11" library and utilizes the "getpwnam" family of non-reentrant functions to obtain password entries, which could be exploited by malicious users to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the application depending on the way the application uses data provided by "getpwnam" and related functions.
Note : The application may also fail when handling unexpected data received from one of the non-reentrant "getpwnam" functions.
