A vulnerability has been identified in phpBB, which could be exploited by remote attackers to gain knowledge of sensitive information. This flaw is due to a design error in the "gen_rand_string()" function that generates predictable random numbers, which could be exploited by malicious people to change a user's password by conducting brute force attacks against the validation ID sent via the "I forgot my password" functionality.
