>> PHP Multiple Extensions Format String and Cross Site Scripting Issues
|
|
Multiple vulnerabilities were identified in PHP, which could be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary commands or scripting code.
The first issue is due to a format string error in the error reporting feature of the "mysqli" extension that does not properly validate certain error messages generated by the SQL server, which could be exploited by local or remote attackers (under certain conditions) to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the web server. This issue affects PHP5.
The second vulnerability is due to input validation errors in the "session" extension and the "header()" function that fail to properly validate the session ID before being sent to the user via a Set-Cookie header, which could be exploited by malicious people to conduct HTTP response splitting attacks.
The third flaw is due to input validation errors when displaying malformed error messages, which could be exploited by attackers to cause malicious scripting code to be executed by the user's browser in the security context of an affected Web site.
The fourth vulnerability is due to a missing safe_mode/open_basedir checks into cURL extension, which could be exploited by attackers to bypass security restrictions. This issue affects PHP4.
