Multiple vulnerabilities were identified in Google Mini Search Appliance, which could be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary commands or perform cross site scripting.

The first issue is due to an error when parsing a specially crafted XSLT style sheet, which could be exploited by attackers to call arbitrary java methods and execute malicious shell commands by supplying a malicious XSLT file.

The second vulnerability is due to an input validation error when displaying error messages containing a specially crafted "proxystylesheet" variable, which could be exploited by attackers to cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the user's browser.

The third flaw is due to an error when determining the style sheet path, which could be exploited by attackers to verify the existence of local files by monitoring certain error messages returned by the device.

The fourth vulnerability is due to a design error where the device can be used to perform a port scan against remote systems by supplying specially crafted URLs and monitoring error messages returned by the device to determine whether or not a specific port is opened.

The fifth issue is due to an input validation error when processing a specially crafted XSLT style sheet specified in the "proxystylesheet" variable, which could be exploited by attackers to cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the user's browser.

Note : A fully functional exploit has been released.
