Redhat has released updated packages to correct vulnerabilities identified in openldap and nss_ldap.
The first flaw is due to an error when a client attempts to authenticate against an LDAP server that omits the optional "error" value from the "PasswordPolicyResponseValue", which could be exploited by remote attackers to bypass the authentication procedure and gain access to a vulnerable system. For additional information, see : FrSIRT/ADV-2005-1520
The second problem is that OpenLDAP when connecting to a slave using TLS, does not use TLS for the subsequent connection if the client is referred to a master, which causes passwords to be sent in cleartext and allows remote attackers to sniff the password. For additional information, see : FrSIRT/ADV-2005-0947
