A vulnerability has been identified in Lynx, which could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands. This flaw is due to a buffer overflow error in the "HTrjis()" [HTMIME.c] function that does not properly handle specially crafted NNTP article headers, which could be exploited by remote attackers to compromise a vulnerable system by convincing a user to connect to a malicious Web site or NNTP (Network News Transfer Protocol) server.
Note : A fully functional exploit has been released.
