A vulnerability has been identified in Berkeley MPEG Tools, which may be exploited by malicious users to conduct symlink attacks. The problem is due to errors in "mpeg_encode", "eyuvtojpeg", "vidtoeyuv", "vidtojpeg", "vidtoppm", and "eyuvtoppm", and the Makefile for the "test" make target that create temporary files insecurely in "/tmp", which may be exploited by local attackers to overwrite or create arbitrary files with the privileges of the user running the vulnerable application.
