A vulnerability has been identified in GNOME libzvt, which could be exploited by malicious users to conduct hostname spoofing attacks. This issue is due to an error in the file "gnome-pty-helper" that does not properly filter a specially crafted "DISPLAY" environment variable, which could be exploited by local attackers to spoof the hostname recorded in "utmp".
