Apple has released a security patch to correct two vulnerabilities affecting Mac OS X. These flaws could be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service or bypass certain security procedures.
The first flaw is due to a null pointer dereference in the kernel, which could be exploited to cause a denial of service by sending specifically crafted TCP/IP packets to a vulnerable system.
The second issue is due to a design error when installing new widgets, which could be exploited by a user to install a new widget with the same internal identifier as an Apple-supplied widget.
